We are currently seeking to fill the role of Tax Manager. The primary responsibility of the Tax Manager role at ONB may include managing the accounting for income taxes, managing the federal and state compliance process, or both.  This role’s primary responsibility is the oversight of the company’s federal and state tax compliance.  This includes coordination of work and reviewing returns and workpapers prepared by 1-2 staff members. The Tax Manager also prepares the more difficult tax returns.  This position will assist the Tax Accounting Manager by preparing provision workpapers of the more complex entities and reviewing provision workpapers prepared by team members.  The Compliance Manager will direct the companies responses to audits and correspondence from tax authorities.  Other responsibilities may include coordinating work with staff in: a) completing daily customer tax withholding deposits and returns filings; b) analyzing select purchases for use tax applicability; c) preparing other miscellaneous filings and; d) assigning and reviewing other work in alignment with team members daily responsibilities. 

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Coordinate work and manage the income tax compliance process to ensure timely and accurate completion of estimated payments and returns
  • Oversee the preparation of annual apportionment workpapers and update blended tax rates for the state tax provision as needed
  • Prepare and review tax provision workpapers as assigned by the Tax Accounting Manager
  • Direct the teams responses to correspondence for the IRS and state agencies
  • Manage federal and state tax audits
  • Evaluate company activity and nexus requirements for jurisdictions in which ONB does not currently file

Key Competencies for Position

  • Experience preparing and reviewing federal and state corporate returns including proficiency with OneSource Income Tax or other corporate tax preparation platform
  • Practical understanding of tax accounting requirements under ASC 740
  • Proficiency using OneSource Tax Provision platform and OneSource Workpapers
  • Ability to perform tax research
  • Ability to plan and coordinate work for team of 1-3 

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 4-6 years minimum experience in public or corporate tax function
  • CPA or MST desired but not required
  • Proficiency with OneSource or similar tax accounting platform  

Key Measures of Success/Key Deliverables:

  • Ensure the timely and accurate completion of the company’s federal and state tax returns
  • Clear designation of responsibilities and utilization of tax staff
  • Completing tax provision assignments accurately and timely
  • Coordinating staff in completion of other miscellaneous filings and projects as assigned by the Tax Director
