Responsibilities

We have a great opportunity to be part of a program where the participants will be part of a 24-month development program that will cycle through various targeted functional rotations.  The program is designed to help prepare and develop future organizational leaders through accelerated training and rotational assignments that will ensure participant exposure to multiple departments within the line of business through a cross-functional approach.  Participants will be introduced to the company’s products, services and processes that will foster the skills and knowledge needed in preparation for a successful career in their respective track, while simultaneously making valuable contributions to the organization. 

 

While training, the participants report to the Rotational Development Program Manager. While in each of their rotations, the participants report to a Rotation Manager.

 

Potential placement after successful completion of the program includes a variety of professional roles in the analytical, sales, and client services areas. 

 

This two-year program will focus on training and rotations focused on process design, improvement, and automation. Strong candidates for the Operations Rotational Development Program would have educational focus in business, operations, or a related area of study, a mix of leadership and involvement, a knack for problem-solving and process improvement, and a technical edge with data, agile/scrum, and/or coding experience.

 

The following information is specific to the Commercial & Credit Rotational Career Track:

 

The Rotational Development Program may include rotations in the following areas:

  • Credit Management - offers an opportunity to work and underwrite for various business segments where participants develop an understanding of products, lending practices, financial analysis, and the banking industry. Rotations may include underwriting Specialty Business Banking, Real Estate, Healthcare, Sponsored Finance, Capital Markets and more.
  • Commercial Banking - offers an opportunity to make and service a variety of commercial loans to small and mid-size businesses. Rotations may include sales in Middle Market, Business Banking and Real Estate.
  • Wealth Management - offers an opportunity to rotate through core functions of wealth management, where participants gain experience in investment strategies. Rotations may include sales/servicing roles within Private Banking, Trust Sales/Operations and Wealth client segments.

Year one of the Rotational Program includes the following:

  • Self-guided, online Credit curriculum
  • Learning and development sessions for all potential rotation opportunities with a focus on the individual elements that make up the underwriting process like spreading, risk ratings, annual portfolio reviews and covenant testing
  • Mentorship from a high performing team member in their desired area of focus
  • Work on non–active deals which may be high volume and low complexity.
  • Review and maintain credit files assessing informational needs and updating information whenever necessary
  • Listen and observe presentations of credits to loan committee.
  • Input loan requests into expedited underwriting software for decisioning
  • Continue to learn and take action on feedback 

Year two of the Rotational Program includes the following:

  • Rotations that are more complex in nature in Specialty groups, including Capital Markets, Sponsored finance, Sales/Portfolio Banking
  • Conduct sales calling with Relationship Managers, conduct property visits, and attend client meetings
  • Analyze complex credits and prepare clear, complete written and oral presentations with limited supervision
  • Manage and advance credit pipeline with little supervision
  • Mentor first year LEADS
  • Work with experienced Divisional Credit officers in a specific business segment to gain exposure to credit authority
  • Perform sales activities to develop new relationships with business clients
  • Develop and maintain referral networks with local insurance agents, real estate brokers, accountants, attorneys, and other professionals
  • Assist senior Commercial Lender in handling of complex relationships
  • Seek feedback and consistently demonstrate to continuously improve performance
  • Implement new strategies based on feedback from first year.

 

*Specific responsibilities will be determined and depend on the needs of the rotation department and the line of business specialization.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related discipline which coincides with the line of business
  • Successful completion of at least two accounting courses with grades of B or better
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 out of 4.0
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and think creatively about business challenges
  • Self-starter with involvement in extra-curricular, community or university sponsored organizations. Prior internship experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong desire to learn and proven ability to adapt in new situations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Driven and motivated with demonstrated teamwork and leadership ability
  • Strong interest in the banking industry and desire to grow and develop a career at Old National
  • Geographically mobile, ready for assignments in 3-4 different locations during the program
  • Proficient with MS Office
