Responsibilities

The Staff Accountant II position provides accounting, reporting, analytical, and internal control support for Old National Bank and its affiliates. Key responsibilities include general ledger accounting, financial close activities, account reconciliations, financial analysis, internal controls, audit support, and process improvement initiatives. This position serves as a key contributor to the integrity and accuracy of the Bank's financial records and reporting processes. 

The position will work with all areas of the bank, including the staff and management in Accounting, Finance, Financial Reporting, Treasury, Financial Analysis, and Tax, as well as interfacing with Wealth, Loan, and Deposit Operations. 

 

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $44,700/yr - $84,500/yr plus bonus. The base salary indicated for this position reflects the compensation range applicable to all levels of the role across the United States. Actual salary offers within this range may vary based on a number of factors, including the specific responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s relevant skills and professional experience, educational qualifications, and geographic location.

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Support monthly/quarterly and annual closing process  
  • Responsible for the completion of account reconciliations and ensuring that stale outstanding items are cleared timely 
  • Ensure reconciling items have proper supporting documentation 
  • Review daily bank activity and propose adjusting entries as needed 
  • Complete account analysis on accounts/tasks  
  • Identify opportunities to automate, streamline, and enhance accounting processes 
  • Fulfillment of various ad-hoc reporting requests from other departments and managers 
  • Fulfillment of periodic reporting/data requests for other departments, auditor requests, etc.  
  • Assist with the compliance and documentation of SOX controls 
  • Maintain procedures and internal controls related to responsibilities 
  • Support internal and external audit requests

Qualifications and Education Requirements 

 

  • 2-4 years accounting experience in banking or related industry  
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance for recent graduates with no experience in accounting 
  • Ability to clearly communicate (verbal and written) accounting issues to management, auditors and other staff 
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple priorities / projects under tight timeframes
