Job Summary
The Capital Markets Sales & Trading Specialist is a critical position within Old National Bank responsible for supporting and executing the Foreign Exchange (FX) business across sales, trading, operations, client onboarding, and regulatory reporting functions. The role assists in managing FX trading and execution risk generated by client activity while ensuring operational excellence and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities include executing foreign exchange transactions, managing client orders and liquidity positions, supporting internal and external sales efforts, facilitating client onboarding, preparing regulatory and departmental reporting, maintaining FX systems expertise, and coordinating with internal partners across Treasury, Credit, Operations, Compliance, and Relationship Management. The incumbent must possess strong market knowledge, operational discipline, client service skills, and an understanding of treasury and market risk management principles.
This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports and reports to the Director Foreign Exchange & Global Trade Services Manager.
Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $62,300 - $122,400 per year. Final compensation will be determined by location, skills, experience, qualifications and the career level at which the position is filled.
Key Accountabilities
Sales, Trading & Client Execution
- Execute and manage foreign exchange transactions with clients and liquidity providers through telephone, electronic trading platforms, and online portals.
- Provide foreign exchange pricing and market commentary to clients, relationship managers, and internal partners.
- Understand market dynamics and appropriately price transactions based on client relationship and prevailing market conditions.
- Assist with development of FX business through coordinated client calling efforts, sales presentations, and participation in relationship manager meetings.
- Maintain knowledge of commercial credit concepts and support establishment of FX credit facilities for clients.
- Understand global fixed income and currency markets and the impact on exchange rate pricing.
FX Operations & Risk Management
- Develop expertise in all FX-related systems including trading platforms, market data systems, online banking applications, SWIFT, and settlement systems.
- Manage Nostro account balances and ensure adequate liquidity exists to settle foreign exchange obligations.
- Perform trade investigations, payment exception resolution, OFAC reviews, and transaction support activities.
- Prepare materials and reporting for quarterly market risk reviews and management reporting.
- Assist with reconciliation of foreign currency accounts and support operational controls and risk mitigation efforts.
- Monitor and support transaction settlement activities while maintaining appropriate internal controls.
Client Onboarding & Regulatory Administration
- Coordinate onboarding and legal documentation for FX clients, including Dodd-Frank related requirements and other regulatory obligations.
- Maintain client files and documentation, ensuring completeness and regulatory compliance.
- Assist with client due diligence, legal entity documentation, and related reporting requirements.
- Support regulatory examinations, audit requests, and internal compliance reviews.
- Prepare departmental, management, and regulatory reporting as required
Client Service & Relationship Support
- Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for clients, Relationship Managers, Treasury Management Officers, Private Bankers, and Banking Center personnel.
- Respond to inquiries regarding transaction status, payment processing, historical activity, and FX market issues.
- Support foreign currency bank note activities and branch education across the footprint.
- Partner with sales and marketing teams to develop client presentations, sales materials, and educational content.
Trade Services Administration & Operations
- Coordinate the preparation, review, and processing of trade related documentation, including letters of credit, amendments, drawing requests, and related documentation.
- Act as a liaison between clients, relationship managers, operations teams, and correspondent banking partners to facilitate trade transactions.
- Support compliance with trade services regulations and policies.
- Assist with transaction investigations, document review, exception processing, and resolution of client inquiries.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field and/or H.S. diploma/GED with equivalent experience.
- MBA, CFA, CTP, or related advanced designation preferred.
- Three (3) or more years of experience in Foreign Exchange sales and trading, Treasury operations, Capital Markets operations, market Risk Management, or related Commercial Banking experience.
- Working knowledge of Foreign Exchange products, Treasury services, Capital Markets operations, and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
